Legal basis

Presidential Decree No. 25-83 of 20 February 2025 (conditions and procedures for admitting foreign students)

Eligibility

Admitted by the host institution based on annually-allocated available seats; applicant must cover the required tuition fees. Foreign diplomas must be authenticated/equivalence-assessed by the MESRS Equivalence Department, which issues a degree-equivalence certificate and a grade-equivalence document.

  • English (depends on program; a Pole of Excellence near Algiers teaches entirely in English: AI, Mathematics, Autonomous Systems, Nanotechnology, Cybersecurity)
Language Support
Applicants who do not master the language of instruction take intensive training at the Intensive Language Teaching Centers (CEIL) attached to their institution. No single national IELTS/TOEFL minimum is published; readiness handled via CEIL.

Scholarships

Algerian Government scholarships for international students exist, largely via bilateral/cooperation agreements (administered through AAGES / diplomatic channels). University residences (National Office for University Services) accommodate international students.
