2016 has brought about a lot of change at our schools in Cape Town as well as Kidlington, Oxford. Early in the year we said goodbye to our Director of Studies, Debbie who moved on to greener pastures in the United States of America. We hear that she is now a happily married woman, enjoying life in the deep South.

Debbie’s departure brought on the arrival of Natasha Budd as the new Director. Natasha brought with her years of experience and is an incredible wealth of knowledge. I think we are all extremely grateful for the part she has stepped into at the school. Along with our Director of Studies Nick King in Oxford, who also joined us early this year, we are set to soar for great success.

Both Nick and Natasha have DELTA qualifications under their belt and this, along with their dynamic approach to ESL education will benefit us during 2017 when we are set to embark on many exciting new ventures. Watch out for phrases like ‘technological innovation’ and ‘blended learning’ making its way into our corridors…

Keeping to the academic side, we hired our first Head Teacher, who arrived in the bubbly and energetic shape of Bridget. Bridget, we thank you for the incredible vibe you bring to the school every day and we all look forward to seeing what you have up your sleeve for next year!

2016 also brought about our new campus on Strand Street in Cape Town. These modern facilities are conveniently located in the heart of the city and only a few minutes’ walk from our campus on Long Street. Offering four classrooms, this gives Oxford English Academy the edge when hosting larger student numbers while keeping class sizes small.

During the year we established a well-oiled marketing team who are going from strength to strength. Their initiatives have proven very successful, especially if you take a look at our social media pages. We also saw the appointment of our first Sales Director, dedicated to ensuring you get the best online service possible. Of course, Felicia is still at the front desk in Cape Town, ready to help you with just about anything you can think of!

We cannot let the year go by without thanking all our students and agents for their incredible support. We had many returning students, students who became dear friends and agents who have supported us like family all along. 2017 looks to be a fruitful and exciting year, hopefully bringing with it the change in our visa laws, making it easier for us all!
