English Class and Social Programme

English class and internships actually go hand in hand. Oxford English Academy, Cape Town has decided that 2017 is the year of the Social Programme! We endeavour to make our after-hour activities unique, exhilarating and an overall vibrant experience. As I have mentioned in past blog posts, it is extremely important for any English language school to acknowledge the importance of social interaction and the additional learning benefits that come into play outside of the classroom.

English class and internships go together well. Social programme is important for learning English and interns take charge of the social programme.

English Class and Internships

Which leads me to the title of this blog post: our interns! Twice a year we welcome a few select interns into our school for a few months at a time. The role these interns play is very important within the school as they, along with our Social Programme Coordinator, are responsible for the weekly activities we offer to the students.

At the moment we have three lovely Dutch ladies, who are helping out and learning a lot every day. While they are doing their thing, we are already putting our feelers out for the next intake. We are looking for young adults who want to join our team.  And also to have a lot of fun while working hard and meeting a lot of new friends from all over the world.

Our interns are outgoing and self-motivated, ready to try new things and motivate others to join them. They do of course have many other duties as well. These include office administration, front desk shifts, social media campaigns and general marketing activities.

Internships and your Attitude

To excel within our school environment many say you need to be a little crazy. By that we mean firstly you need a positive outlook on life. Secondly you need to have a go-getter attitude. And lastly you need a real sense of adventure. We remind ourselves on a daily basis that our students are often here for a once in a lifetime experience. They probably will never come back again. Therefore, it is our responsibility to ensure that they have the best experience we can possibly offer them inside the classroom and out.

If you think you could fit into our, for lack of a better word, mould, then please contact us and tell us all about yourself. We are currently accepting applications for the period of July to September 2017. We look forward to hearing from you!
