According to GWA Training Brokers Edu-Tourism is “by definition – travel for the purpose of formal or informal education and life long learning in unique natural, historical & multi-cultural environments. It refers to any tourism program or product offering, in which participants travel to a location with the primary purpose of engaging in a learning experience.”
While your primary purpose for travelling to one of our schools might be to learn English, there is no reason to limit your learning experience to one subject. Why not while you are at it, double up on the opportunity and learn another skill all together? If you have decided to immerse yourself into a new country for a period of time you are already out of your comfort zone, so you may as well go all out.
I have mentioned our incredible beaches numerous times in my blogs, so instead of lazing around on the sand, sign up for a surf lesson. Muizenberg beach has the perfect conditions for learning this incredible sport. Gary’s Surf School is reputable and has been around for more than 25 years. You will be amazed at how quickly you can learn the basics of such an epic past time. And guess what, the lesson will be in English, so you will be practising another skill!
If surfing is not your thing, but wind surfing sounds exciting, you can head west towards Bloubergstrand. Learn 2 Windsurf operates from the Milnerton Aquatic Club on the Rietvlei lake. The lake offers flat freshwater conditions which makes it perfect for learning whether you are ten or fifty years old. The lessons can be taken in German, Spanish or English. Of course I suggest English as, once again, it will enhance your skills even more.
Not a water baby? If you prefer being high up in the sky soaring like a seagull, paragliding is a must! Fly Cape Town offers you a once off experience as well as training courses. You will learn to navigate your equipment like a pro within the most scenic surroundings Cape Town has to offer.
