Nestled on the outskirts of the City of Oxford, Oxford English Academy is based in Kidlington, a small friendly suburb between the River Cherwell and the Oxford Canal. With its’ relaxed village feel, Kidlington is only a few minutes bus ride from Central Oxford and its superb facilities. The location of the school has been carefully chosen for its close proximity to host family accommodation. This means that students do not need to tackle the busy rush hour traffic to reach classes on time. Instead their journey to school is stress free and easy; most families being within walking distance. The area caters for all students’ needs, offering cafes, banks, shops and a sports centre. There are excellent transport links, with buses running very frequently to the City centre, London and all airports.



This is our most popular course and students study for 15 or 20 lessons per week. The aim of these classes is to improve competency in all language skills, especially spoken and written English. Students use a textbook and supplementary materials to focus on skills, accuracy and appropriate use of language. There is strong focus on improving communication skills. We subscribe to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) and offer six levels: A1 (breakthrough), A2 (waystage), B1 (threshold), B2 (vantage), C1 (effective operational proficiency) and C2 (mastery).


This IELTS preparation course is for students preparing to take the International English Language Testing System examination. Students can take 15 lessons per week, concentrating on exam skills in the afternoons. Students can also take 30 lessons per week, whereby they concentrate on General English in the mornings and exam skills in the afternoons.


Students can study Business English and English for Specific Purposes (ESP) as an afternoon elective. We use a communicative method, teaching Business English and ESP through everyday business situations. These include giving presentations, socialising, negotiating, making travel arrangements and business correspondence. ESP courses are designed for specific industries and goals set by students or their employers.

PART-time evening classes

Students living in Oxford can take part in part-time evening classes. Classes are aimed at students who need to communicate effectively in their working lives and also at students who wish to improve their English rapidly with extra lessons. The course is communicative and practical and equips students with many English tools and skills.


This IELTS preparation course is for students preparing to take the International English Language Testing System examination. Students can take 15 lessons per week, concentrating on exam skills in the afternoons. Students can also take 30 lessons per week, whereby they concentrate on General English in the mornings and exam skills in the afternoons.


Classes are charged per hour. Individual lessons are planned for the student’s needs and can provide rapid improvement in their use of English. These can be combined with other classes and are a good way to focus on specific problems the student has. This course is also ideal for students who are looking for Business English and English for Specific Purposes. This is the most flexible course we offer whereby students decide on what to study and when they want study.


This course is for students under 16 years of age and is a combination of General English for 15 lessons a week and educational and fun outings in the afternoons. Classes are aimed at engaging young minds with fun and age-appropriate themes and are taught by teachers with young learner experience and qualifications. Outings include activities such as visiting museums, going on safari, shopping, sports and visiting a fun fair. Packages can be tailor-made to suit each group’s needs.

Nick has been teaching English as a Foreign Language since 2004 and completed his DELTA in 2010. He has taught in Latin America, predominantly training executives from the oil, gas and mining industries in Peru and is fluent in Spanish. He subsequently specialised in IELTS exam preparation courses for several years in Oxford before deciding to return to Latin America and found a small but successful English language school of his own in Lima, Peru. After deciding to return to the UK he became centre manager at a large school in Oxford where he had both academic and administrative oversee. Now he is proud to be back in his hometown of Oxford and working at Oxford English Academy, and is passionate about being able to bring this experience together in a city whose international reputation is synonymous with academic excellence.

Steve has been teaching English since 2002 and has taught in many different countries around the world from South Korea to France and England. He has also worked in publishing and marketing and holds a BA in modern history as well as a master’s degree in development and emergency practice. He gained his CELTA certification in London and has many years of experience teaching both business and medical English, while also helping students to achieve success in IELTS and Cambridge English qualifications. Steve is passionate about current affairs, politics and understanding different cultures.

Greg has been teaching English since 2014, following a lengthy career as a recording engineer in a well-known music recording studio in London. Since completing his CELTA in Oxford, he has taught in several schools in London and Oxford, teaching General English, Business English, BEC and IELTS. He is currently completing a BA Degree in English Language and Literature and his passions are his family, music and Arsenal!



Accommodation is one of the most important aspects of a study visit to another country. It is vitally important that a student’s accommodation is clean, comfortable and conveniently located. We offer the student a number of different accommodation options.


• Standard homestay accommodation is a private room with a family.
• This includes breakfast and dinner, 7 days a week (Half Board) and ‘no food’ accommodation is also an option.
• You will have a first-hand cultural experience with a British family and this will also allow you to practice
your English outside of the classroom.
• (This option is available for sharing should you wish to book with a friend.)


• Executive homestay accommodation is a private room and a private bathroom with a family
